Perl 5 Wiki Nearing 1,000-Page Mark

Wikipedia does an impressive job of drawing audiences; the number of unique visitors to the site has grown by something like 8,000 percent over the last five years. It turns out that the Perl 5 Wiki is growing, too, with the 1,000-page mark now within reach.

"The Official Perl 5 Wiki now has a total of 893 pages, and 284 pages wanted by other pages," according to a post on use Perl. The post encourages onlookers to lend a hand - things like Perl usage, packaging applications using PAR, and each Perl release could all stand to receive some short descriptions.

Also, if you happen to speak more than one language, "currently the entire content is in english - translations of popular and/or big pages would be incredibly useful."

The Perl 5 Wiki will never have the huge, international user base of Wikipedia, of course, but a more realistic benchmark is available. The Python wiki apparently has around 5,000 pages; it would be interesting to see Perl's version draw even with it.

In the meantime, at least one review has indicated that the fourth edition of "Perl by Example" is a good resource, and Wikipedia itself might work.
